My super quick summary reminded me of the goofy series of videos Alex and I made this summer called “Movies in 30 seconds.” See one of them in the video above.
LUKE in 30 SECONDS:
I just finished Luke. Jesus is incredible. Luke wrote this story to instill faith in Theophilus, but it still also instills faith in me. I love that.
Luke’s story builds on the authority and power of Jesus. He teaches, heals, and raises people from the dead with power like no one has ever seen before. There’s much intrigue. There’s also ridicule. Heaps and loads of people are following this “prophet of God” who seems to know what he is talking about. Until, he starts claiming to be the Son of God. Some people start falling away, unable to have faith. They become even more perplexed when this powerful prophet ends up on a cross.. “unable” to save himself. Luke finishes his rendition by emphasizing that everything that happened to Jesus was to fulfill the Law and Prophets. It was because of God’s will, he had to suffer. The apostles continued to confused by this, so Jesus makes sure to open their minds to the Scriptures post-resurrection. Jesus promises these men the Holy Spirit will be with them on their new mission. With a new understanding and a mission set before them, they are left with GREAT JOY, praising God, waiting in the city to be “clothed with power from on High.”
Now, on to Acts.
