He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

I said, “Sovereign LORD, you alone know.”

This story has truly rocked my world recently. I went to Denver and met the strangest population of homeless teenagers—many addicted to heroine, some were alcoholics, most runaways. I gotta be honest…they truly seemed like a valley of dried-up bones with no hope of life.
I probably would have answered God’s question to Ezekiel with doubt. First off I’d be scarred for life by the morbid, dark scene of a valley full of human bones. But then I’d have to answer the question.
Most of the time, we ignore the valleys of bones. We feel like there is no hope so we turn a blind-eye, faithless.
Ezekiel’s answer has blown me away. SOVEREIGN LORD, YOU ALONE KNOW.
I pray when I come upon hopeless seeming valleys of dried up bones. I will say, “God, you alone know if these bones can be made alive again!”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.
God brings life to dry bones. Incredible.
